With the return of Luis Suarez to the Liverpool on Monday night, having served his mammoth ban from football, reports are that Manager Kenny Dalglish will opt to unleash the talismatic Uraguyan striker from the bench.

Monday night's game from Anfield will see Liverpool pit their wits against 3rd-placed Spurs who are 13 points ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League.

Indeed, Liverpool were given a harsh footballing lesson by Tottenham in the encounter last September when we had Charlie Adam sent off after half an hour following a Luka Modric goal, once Martin Skrtel got sent of that day aswell, we went down to a 4-0 defeat at White Hart Lane.

There is every hope that Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool side will provide a much stiffer test for Harry 'Bung' Rednapp's side and I firmly believe Liverpool have the momentum to do just that on Monday night.

After dumping the two Manchester clubs out of the FA Cup & the Carling Cup plus the 3-0 victory against Wolves, I think that the way Liverpool play, they have enough about them to beat Spurs on Monday night to move into 5th and fight for the Champions League places

With Liverpool facing Harry Rednapp's Spurs next Monday night,
statistics over the years show that Liverpool have the edge over Tottenham in the Primiership down the years as shown in the graph below.

However, in the last three games between the two sides its Spurs who are on top with a thumping 4-0 beating of Liverpool, preceded
by a 2-0 defeat at Anfield last May.

Prior to that, Liverpool defeated Rednapp's side 2-0 in January 2010 while we were beaten again in September of that year 2-1.

So, there is very little to choose between the teams in terms of results nowadays, let us hope for a victory against Harry Rednapp's tax-dodgers on Monday night.

Folowing Liverpool's great 3-0 win at Molineaux in which Andy Carroll, Craig Bellamy & Dirk Kuyt all scored, Bellamy has emerged as Liverpool's top scorer so far, this Season with a total of 9 goals in all competitions compared to the controversially suspended Luis Suarez's 8 thus far.

Liverpool boss, Kenny Dalglish has come out and said that there will be no signings in or out of Melwood this window.

After two great results against the Manchester clubs this week, it is easy to think that we have no need to find a striker and a midfielder in the January window.

However, we are seventh in the League, behind unfancied Newcastle and six points behind Chelsea in fourth place.

It is a brave move by Kenny not to seek reinforcements and to place his job in the trust of the performances of Andy Carroll, Downing, Henderson and Adam because these players are central to his Liverpool project this season.

True, we are in the Carling Cup Final next month, great news for every Liverpool fan and we are in the 5th round of the FA Cup aswell.

However I feel we are missing a trick by not signing another striker in this window, afterall, we sold Torres, Babel and Ngog last season and we have not replaced them.

Hope you are proved right Kenny.

On the face of it Liverpool have been granted a favourable draw in the FA Cup 5th round with Championship side Brighton having to travel to Anfield in mid-February.

Kenny Dalglish's men defeated the same opposition 2-1 at the brand new Amex Stadium earlier in the season in the Carling Cup with goals coming from Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt.

Gus Poyet's side play an attractive brand of football and they currently sit in 10th in the Championship.
Their Chairman, Dick Knight oversaw the building of a new stadium, the appointment of Poyet and the advancement of the club which once neared extinction.

However, expect the fairytale to end on the 18/19th of February when they come to Anfield as Liverpool will go all out for a victory to qualify for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley.

Liverpool beat Man Utd 2-1 in the FA Cup 4th round on Saturday, thanks to an overdue goal from Dirk Kuyt in the 88th minute.

Liverpool lined up with a defensive formation with Jamie Carragher in front of a flat back four, paying too much respect to a United side shorn of players like Vidic, Ferdinand and Rooney.

Liverpool took the lead on 21 mins from a clever corner which sucked in keeper David De Ghea to allow Daniel Agger to power home a header, his first goal this Season for Liverpool.

Thereafter, Liverpool retreated and Utd gradually grew into the game in midfield with Scholes and Giggs prominent.

An attack down the right from Utd drew them level when José Enrique failed to cut out a cross to Ji Sung Park who drew the sides level with a goal on 39 mins.

Early in the second-half, thankfully Kenny Dalglish decided to change the team's approach when he withdrew Jamie Carragher for Dirk Kuyt on 62 mins, Charlie Adam and Craig Bellamy also came on for Captain Steven Gerrard and Maxi Rodriguez.

Now Liverpool really went for it with a much more attacking approach, sensing victory in their nostrils.

Liverpool took the game to Ferguson's team in the final half-hour with Adam providing the impetous to every attack.

Yet the game seemed to be destined for a draw until a long punt upfield by Pepe Reina found the head of the hard-working Andy Carroll who flicked the ball into the path of Dirk Kuyt and the Flying Dutchman slammed the ball past De Ghea on 88 mins to give Liverpool a 2-1 lead in the tie.

A fervent Liverpool crowd rose to their feet to a man to support the team and Liverpool nearly had a third when a Carroll header smacked off the crossbar into the path of Kuyt again, who this time sent his shot wide.

However, Liverpool were not to be denied as they sealed a famous win 2-1 against Man Utd to progress into the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool now have the chance to dump Man Utd out of the FA Cup at Anfield.

Will Kenny Dalglish risk playing Craig Bellamy again?
After his man of the match performance against City, is Bellamy's knee up to starting a game again, so soon after Wednesday's performance.
I think Kenny will play him again for an hour or so in the hope of establishing a lead against Ferguson's team who may be missing Rio Ferdinand, Nani and possibly Wayne Rooney to injury.

Jay Spearing is back in contention following his hamstring strain but it may be a game too soon for the tough-tackling midfield dynamo.

The game is shrouded by the eight game suspension to Liverpool's Luis Suarez thanks to Patrice Evra's complaints to the FA.
The fact that the FA chose to accept Evra's comments, even though he had no evidence to back it up is a major source of annoyance at Liverpool FC and Suarez himself who is nearing the completion of the harsh ban.

If Liverpool play with the application and intensity they showed against Man City then I fancy them to win 2-1 at Anfield.

After Liverpool's fantastic achievement in beating Man City over two legs to reach the Carling Cup Final last Wednesday night, thanks to Craig Bellamy's goal.

It is now time to look towards beating the other half of Manchester in the form of the Red side of the City.

Our arch-rivals come to Anfield on Saturday afternoon in the fourth round of the FA Cup with it all to play for.

Man Utd will not be at full-strength, with Rio Ferdinand, Vidic and possibly, Rooney all ruled out through injury.
Good news for Liverpool.
If we can possibly reproduce the performance in the Carling Cup versus City then we stand a great chance of beating Utd again.
Will current hero Craig Bellamy be rested, owing to his dodgy knee or will he be playing from the start?
Kenny may chose to mix it up a little for Saturday's game against the old enemy, but expect him to put out a very strong line-up again as he seeks to progress to the FA Cup last sixteen.

After Saturday's capitulation to lowly Bolton at the Reebok 3-1, Kenny Dalglish openly criticised his players for their attitude and performance in the defeat, even claiming that heads will roll after that display.

Well Kenny, it was an abject display by the team, a team you largely assembled yourself.

We were over-ran in midfield without the injured Lucas as Charlie Adam couldn't make a legal tackle to save his own backside, Henderson had one shot on goal and zero tackles.
Andy Carroll did provide the assist for Bellamy's goal but that was about all the big geordie did all day.
Stuart Downing has been a total flop since arriving from Aston Villa in the Summer, an England international, he has been dismal at Liverpool, God knows why, he has the ability.

So Kenny, go out and buy a quality striker and a proper midfielder before our Season is over by February, please.

I did a check on the respective results of Liverpool under Kenny Dalglish and Roy Hodgson before him from August to January in 2010 for Hodgson and in 2011 for Dalglish.

After our stalemate against Stoke last weekend, I felt it was time to step back and see the improvements in results at Liverpool since Kenny took over from the disasterous days under Roy Hodgson.

We are 11 points better off than this time last year and are in 7th place in the League compared to 13th and only having 26 points under Hodgson.

So while things are not ideal, we have made a major improvement with Dalglish back at the helm, despite not having Steven Gerrard for most of the Season so far and without the departed Torres, we are in contention for fourth place and one game away from the Carling Cup Final.

Lets hope for a much-needed win at the Reebok Arena versus Bolton.

Liverpool will take a 1-0 advantage back to Anfield after defeating Manchester City in their Carling Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

A first-half penalty from Steven Gerrard was all that separated the sides at the Etihad Stadium after City defender Stefan Savic clumsily felled a charging Daniel Agger in the box.

The loss was City's second at home in four days following the defeat to local rivals Manchester City on Sunday, while the visitors found more cup success after their 5-1 win over Oldham last Friday.

City would have been confident heading into the match having defeated Liverpool 3-0 at the same ground just a week ago.
Roberto Mancini's side had a different look for this match though, with Yaya and Kolo Toure away on African Cup of Nations duties with the Ivory Coast and Vincent Kompany suspended.
Liverpool pressed from the off and Carroll was handed a great chance to open the scoring after the striker was sent through on goal by Downing.
Carroll shrugged off a challenge from Savic, but could not beat the oncoming Joe Hart with a low right-foot shot.
City hard barely attacked in the Reds' third when Gerrard fired a stinging shot at Hart which dipped at the far corner, but the goalkeeper reacted quickly enough to palm the Liverpool skipper's effort out for a corner.
From the set-piece, a rehearsed move between Gerrard and Downing had the latter testing Hart for the third time for the match.

The winger's wicked attempt on the volley from outside the box was deflected by a Liverpool attacker, but the England international saw it just in time to instinctively push it out for another corner.

There was nothing Hart could do when Liverpool was awarded a penalty on 12 minutes, with Savic's high-footed challenge bringing down Agger as he burst into the box.

Gerrard stepped up to the spot-kick and slotted the ball home past Hart to put the Reds in the lead.

City finally tested Pepe Reina with a shot on target from substitute Samir Nasri, who came on after 39 minutes in place of Mario Balotelli, but that was the best they could muster in a frustrating opening 45 minutes.

City pressed forward as the half wore on, with Liverpool content to sit back and defend their lead.

But despite having the bulk of possession in the second 45 minutes, Mancini's side failed to create many clear-cut chances.

Aguero had the best chance late on, but his close-range effort flew just inches over the bar and left the Reds to be the much happier side going into the second leg in two weeks.

With Liverpool given a boost following the refusal of the FA hearing committee to reduce or resind Vincent Kompany's four game ban, plus the the loss of Yaya & kolo Toure's participation at The African Nation's Cup. Kenny Dalglish's team have a great opportunity to progress to the Carling Cup final.
We still have to be at our best to beat these guys as the likes of Nasri and Balotteli lie waiting in the wings.
Ever optimistic, I am hoping for a 1-0 win at The Eitihad Stadium.

Man City's Vincent Kompany has lost his appeal against a four match ban for his sending off against Man Utd on Sunday in the FA Cup.

The influential defender will now miss the Carling Cup game against Liverpool on Wednesday evening as well as two Premier League games and the 2nd leg at Anfield.

With the Toure brothers away at the African Nation's Cup, Liverpool have been handed an advantage going into the Cup semi-final.

Lets hope we make the most of it.

Man City's Vincent Kompany is out of the Carling Cup Semi-Final with Liverpool this week.
The impressive defender was harshly sent-off in the FA Cup game v Man Utd yesterday.

Doesn't matter, we will take it.
We couldn't get past him the other week when we lost 3-0 to the Sky-blues, he stopped everything we threw at Man City.

It will still be a tough game at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
By the way, wasn't it very convenient for Manchester City to be given an ultra-modern, brand new stadium after the Commonwealth games a few years ago?

Liverpool could have done with a new stadium being built by the Government at Stanley Park instead.

Anyhow, with Kompany's ban we stand a slightly better chance of getting to the Carling Cup Final, lets hope we do it.

Expect Kenny Dalglish to field a strong team on Wednesday against Mancini's City with Steven Gerrard, Charlie Adam, Glen Johnson and Jordan Henderson all returning to the side.

Shame we drew Man Utd in the FA Cup, 4th round, I knew it would happen, lets get at Scholes, Carrick and their ageing defence.

Merseyside Police have arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of racially abusing Oldham's Tom Adeyemi during the FA Cup game at Liverpool.

Some good news about the alleged Racial abuse of Oldham's Tom Adeyemi at Anfield in the FA Cup on Friday night.

Merseyide police have arrested an Aintree man following the incident, where someone in the Anfield crowd aimed racist abuse at the 20-year-old Oldham player during Friday's FA Cup tie.

Kenny Dalglish's men won the game 5-1 but the game was marred by the incident which saw Adeyemi, who is on loan from Norwich City, burst into tears.

A statement on Liverpool's official website said that they had allowed the police every resource they could offer in the search for the miscreant.
"We take this matter extremely seriously and have today provided the police with the evidence we currently have available to us.
"This includes CCTV coverage and still photography of what we believe to be the relevant part of the stadium, statements from matchday stewards in that area and full access to all the footage captured by the cameras filming the match for our in-house tv operation.
"In addition, we have examined records of the tickets purchased in that part of the ground to see if they provide any additional information and have passed that on to the police.
"Finally, we would also urge any of our supporters who witnessed this incident or saw the individual involved and who have not already done so, to contact either the Club or the police."
Lets hope the matter is brought to a swift conclusion and the furore over racism at Liverpool FC is finally brought to an end, without further punishment by the FA.

The spectre of racism and the Luis Suarez T-shirts once more overshadowed Liverpool as a fan sporting the top worn to support the banned striker confronted Oldham's young defender Tom Adeyemi and reduced him to tears.

The supporter approached Adeyemi during the game and the player is believed to have given a statement to police that he was called "a black c***".
This is a PR disaster for Liverpool FC, there will be a police investigation and another FA investigation and this time Liverpool FC will pay where it really hurts.
A points deduction is now likely, along with a hefty fine and a lifetime ban for the idiot who uttered those words.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard put more than two months of frustration behind him to score on his first start since October as his side beat Oldham 5-1 in the third round of the FA Cup.

After three substitute appearances following recovery from an ankle infection the 31-year-old finally reclaimed his place in the team and expertly dispatched the penalty which put his side into a lead they did not surrender despite a valiant effort from their League One opponents.

Gerrard did the same thing back in October when, on his first start after six months out after a groin operation, he scored against Manchester United.
On that occasion he played only one more match before succumbing to the ankle problem which sidelined him until St Stephen's Day.

The England international will be hoping recent history does not repeat itself as Liverpool have an important few months ahead of them, starting with a two-legged Carling Cup semi-final against Manchester City next week.

Almost exactly a year ago manager Kenny Dalglish marked the start of his second spell in charge at the club with a third-round exit at Manchester United 24 hours after replacing Roy Hodgson.

There was no recurrence against a side 52 places below them in the league - although for a fleeting moment the visitors threatened a shock with a brilliantly-taken goal from Robbie Simpson which would not have looked out of place had it been scored at Wembley itself.

If the Latics had held on for longer than two minutes they may have stood a chance but a freakish deflected equaliser via Craig Bellamy and Gerrard's penalty put the Reds in control and Jonjo Shelvey's first goal for the club and late efforts from substitutes Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing wrapped things up.

With Gary Ablett's family watching from the stand there was a minute's applause for the former Liverpool defender who died on New Year's Day aged 46 after losing a 16-month battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

The Reds may be unbeaten at home this season but they have often struggled at Anfield and they were fortunate not to go behind after just 10 minutes.

Experienced striker Shefki Kuqi outmuscled Sebastian Coates and wrong-footed Jamie Carragher but wastefully shot into the side-netting with only Jose Reina to beat.

Right-back Tom Adeyemi had an equally good chance from Simpson's 14th-minute corner but planted his free header just over while Chris Taylor also fired wide.
Oldham deservedly took the lead in spectacular style in the 28th minute when, after receiving Dean Furman's pass, Simpson took one touch before unleashing a left-footed half-volley which flew past Reina.

The goal had the Oldham contingent in the directors' box - and the 6,132 visiting fans - on their feet but they were soon pegged back by a huge stroke of luck.
Shelvey cut in from the right and speculatively aimed for the far post only for the shot to take a huge deflection off Bellamy's chest and leave Alex Cisak helpless.
Gerrard put his side ahead just before the interval when, after Maxi Rodriguez was pushed by Adeyemi, he expertly converted only the second of six penalties the Reds have been awarded this season.
Bellamy, Dirk Kuyt and Martin Kelly all had chances early in the second half - the latter brilliantly denied by Cisak - before Shelvey smashed home from Bellamy's 68th-minute cross, his first goal this season.
Late in the second half Adeyemi appeared to take offence to something shouted from the Kop and despite reassurance from his team-mates, Kuyt and Gerrard, the 20-year-old right-back, on loan from Bradford, seemed visibly upset, lets hope we don't land in trouble with the FA again.

In the 89th minute, sub Andy Carroll smashed in a low shot from outside the area barely two minutes after coming on before Downing, also coming off the bench, wrapped things up with his 1st Liverpool goal four minutes into injury-time.

So a good win in the end with some lethal finishing in the second-half, nice to see Stuart Downing get his debut-goal at last.

Liverpool face a welcome break from off-field controversies with the visit of Paul Dickov's League One side; Oldham Athletic to Anfield at 7:45 Friday night.

Expect to see Liverpool Manager, Kenny Dalglish to ring the changes for this 3rd round tie with Carra making a welcome return alonside Uraguyan youngster Coates in defence.

I hope to see Steven Gerrard finally make a start in a Liverpool Shirt in midfield alongside Shelvey & Spearing.

The loss of Lucas is beginning to show as he covered everything in midfield.

Lets hope for a 2-0 win against Oldham with Carroll and Bellamy to get the goals.
