Fined, transfer listed and off to Russia, Riera’s punishment

According to The Times Albert Riera could be on his way to Russia in the next few weeks with both CSKA Moscow and Spartak Moscow linked with the silly Spaniard.

Could be a bit harsh, he is a young lad with his head fixed on the world cup and so his frustration is understandable, but he was well out of order and so no surprise that his punishment is severe.

By all accounts the Russian sides will pay as much as £8 Million for him and that cash could come in handy, he has clearly fallen out of favour with Benitez and so I suppose selling him would be best all round.

The Russian transfer window ends on 8th April and so he can be sold and rather than cause any further disharmony within the club we may have no choice but to sell him.

But one of the complaints about Benitez is his poor man management skills and this is a golden opportunity for him to prove everyone wrong, he could easily sit down with Riera and sort this, doubt that he will though.

All such a shame really, Riera was a regular last season and his future with us looked great but he had to know you just cannot do what he has done in public.

Makes you wonder who the hell is advising him.

Ah well as much as I wish this did not happen it has and Benitez needs to do what he must do.
